About us

Our mission is to produce, disseminate and implement high- quality evidence that fosters a better understanding of maintaining and improving skin integrity and woundcare in all areas of healthcare. Partnering with patients, clinicians, scientists,  industry, professional organisations and healthcare policy makers are core elements in our mission. We are committed to advance healthcare policy debate locally, nationally and internationally.

To achieve our mission, we co- create a solid evidence base to support skin integrity and woundcare practice and to facilitate policy making by:

• Identifying priority research needs and creating essential research questions with a real impact in clinical practice;
• Conducting research in skin integrity and wound epidemiology in the general population and in subgroups such as individuals at the extremes of age, the critically ill or medically compromised, and in those requiring assistance with personal care;
• Designing, performing, analysing and publishing high- quality research about efficacy, effectiveness, and efficiency of management interventions in the domain of skin integrity and woundcare; 
• Providing consultancy services to identify, develop, test, evaluate and/or refine skin integrity and woundcare products and procedures;
• Creating strategies to disseminate and implement evidence-based skin integrity and woundcare practices (e.g. skin care interventions; prevention, early detection, diagnostic, treatment; quality improvement programs) at public health, clinical practice, and community care setting level;
• Developing and providing advanced skin integrity and woundcare training and training programmes;
• Developing, validating, and implementing clinically oriented skin integrity and woundcare tools.
